How coaching works

When you start learning a new language, the tutor:

  • Explains grammar and vocabulary in your native language
  • Introduces new words and phrases in the target language with context
  • Asks you to practice speaking in the target language
  • Gently corrects pronunciation and grammar
  • Gradually increases the proportion of the target language as you improve

A natural progression

Early sessions are mostly in your native language with target language words sprinkled in. As you build confidence and vocabulary, the balance shifts.

Over time, more of the conversation happens in your target language. The tutor adapts this balance to your comfort level — never pushing too fast, but always encouraging you to stretch.

Real-world scenarios

Language lessons use real-world situations: ordering at a restaurant, asking for directions, making small talk, or discussing your hobbies. These practical scenarios help you learn language you can actually use.
