How barge-in works
When you are wearing headphones and the tutor is speaking, you can simply start talking. The tutor detects your voice, stops its own speech, and listens to you.
This is exactly like interrupting someone in a real conversation. You do not need to press any buttons or wait for a prompt.
When barge-in is available
Barge-in works best with headphones. This is because the microphone can clearly distinguish your voice from the tutor’s speech when the tutor’s audio goes directly to your ears rather than through the loudspeaker.
On loudspeaker, barge-in is disabled because the microphone picks up the tutor’s voice and cannot reliably tell the difference between you and the tutor.
Tips for effective barge-in
- Speak clearly and at normal volume
- You do not need to shout or raise your voice
- A brief pause after the tutor stops confirms it has heard you
- If the tutor does not stop, try speaking a bit louder or check your headphone connection
